Transforming a Crisis into a 12-Year Partnership in Media Monitoring
Moreover • Media Monitoring Platform
What began as an urgent request to rescue a failing iPad app delivery became the foundation of a long-term strategic partnership. Over the last twelve years, Adappt has helped Moreover (later acquired) build one of the industry's most accurate and resilient media-monitoring operations, delivering 99.6% measured accuracy at scale.
Two Months to Save the day for 3,000 iPads
A major financial institution had ordered 3,000 iPads for a bespoke news-reading app that did not exist. Their previous vendor had missed a three-month deadline, and the relationship was at breaking point.
Moreover, the media monitoring company responsible for the project, turned to Adappt:
"Can you help us deliver this in time?"
The deadline: two months.
The scope: A seamless, swipe-based, flipbook-style iPad application.
The context: Early-generation iPad hardware with strict rendering and memory constraints.
Three-Card Shuffle
To meet the accelerated deadline, our engineering team designed a lightweight, high-performance architecture built around a three page rendering method ("three-card shuffle"). By preloading the current, next, and previous articles, we achieved a natural, responsive "infinite swipe" experience despite hardware limitations.
Our team worked around the clock, optimising rendering performance, memory usage, and gesture responsiveness. The results:
- The app was delivered on time.
- The bank received its solution.
- Moreover retained their client.
This moment laid the foundation for a relationship built on trust and delivery under pressure.
Beyond the App: Re-Engineering Media Monitoring Operations
Delivering the iPad app under near impossible circumstances cemented something: trust.
Months later, Moreover approached Adappt with a new challenge:
Their outsourced media-monitoring operation was reporting ~75% accuracy, yet accuracy wasn't actually being measured. The database contained 250,000+ media sources, but there was no visibility into how many of these sources were still active, and representing a value.
The challenge was to build a solution to increase accuracy above 75%, but before that we needed to benchmark what the 'actual' accuracy rate currently was.
Therefore, before proposing the new solution, we first built a source-health dashboard to assess the current situation.
The findings told the real story:
- 30 - 40% of all current sources were broken (this included a mix of dead links, inactive feeds, outdated sites).
- Analysts were wasting time trying to harvest from sources that were no longer working.
- The team were only able respond to issues reactively, i.e only after clients complained, not a position anyone wants to be in.
- Operational performance was measured on 'guestimates', not against any REAL data.
By implementing the health dashboard to ascertain the real situation, and the base from which any improvement should be measured, the Adappt teams transparency as to the challenge established a solid level of trust with the client on which to build.
The Trial
Moreover invited Adappt to conduct a three-month pilot, comparing our approach to their existing provider.
The Challenge:
Adappt were asked to beat the existing team on:
- Accuracy – Using their reported 75% as the baseline
- Efficiency - How fast sources get fixed and content gets categorized
The Setup:
In response, Adappt set up a new analyst operation in India, establishing:
- Rigorous recruitment and training
- Real-time quality assurance loops
- Source performance monitoring
- Workflow optimisation and productivity feedback
- Continuous performance measurement
The goal: Deliver measurable improvements in accuracy and efficiency. The results would be measured and compared at the end of the 3 month trial period.
Increasing accuracy from 75% to 99.6%
Adappt approach in both measuring the effectiveness of the analyst team and attention to detail saw an incredible improvement even after just three months into the pilot. The results were:
The trial vastly exceeded expectations. The team that was set up 12+ years ago as a trial became a long-term engagement which is running still today.
A Partnership That Has Endured for 12+ Years
Since 2013, Adappt has continued to operate and enhance the media-monitoring function for Moreover and its successor organisations. The relationship has expanded, survived acquisitions, and significantly grown in scope and scale.
In the world of data harvesting, most outsourcing relationships last between 3–5 years. We are proud to boast the relationship is already in its 13th year and continues to remain strong.
So How Have Adappt Made This So Successful:
- Measured Performance - Accuracy consistently maintained at ~99.6%
- Operational Transparency - Dashboards and monitoring across all sources
- Proactive Problem-Solving - Issues resolved before they reach clients
- Robust, Scalable Systems - Processes and workflows built for long-term quality
- A Partnership, Not Vendorship - We solve problems before they become problems
Impact at Scale
From delivering a mission-critical iPad app under extreme pressure to running a global analyst operation with near perfect accuracy, Adappt has played a pivotal role in shaping a highly reliable media monitoring platform.
Key Outcomes:
- 99.6% accuracy
- 250,000+ sources monitored with health tracking
- Proactive, data-driven operational excellence
- 12+ year continuous partnership
From Emergency to Excellence
This is a wonderful example of where Adappt has converted a crisis project evolved into a long-standing relationship built on trust, transparency, and exceptional delivery. Adappt not only solve clients initial emergencies, we build solid trust, systems, processes, and operational intelligence that sustain world-class accuracy for decades.
Need Operations That Maintain Excellence?
The Moreover story demonstrates what's possible when technology and operations combine: emergency projects delivered under pressure, data quality problems exposed and solved, teams built for long-term excellence. Whether you're facing data quality challenges, need to build distributed teams, or want operations that maintain measurable performance year after year—the principles are the same: measure everything, solve systematically, build for permanence.
